Predators

“Fear is reborn”…Unfortunately, the actual did not live up to its Tagline. After seeing the trailer for ‘Predators’ I thought that maybe this time there was finally a film in the series that could compete with the original. Sadly though, after the fifth predator movie attempt- there is not. In fact I don’t think that any Predator movie will compare to the first.
Predator’s fell short of my expectations in part because it failed to build up to the climax. Although there were a few references to the original, this film altogether is a different plot and not a spin off of either of the previous four Predator movies. On top of the already poor storyline, we really don’t know or learn anything about the characters. Other than the simple fact that they’re predators of some sort before being unwillingly sent to a strange planet, we aren’t given much more information about them.
Maybe the biggest disappointment was the casting for Predator’s. I just don’t see Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga or Laurence Fishburne as being dangerous mercenaries or criminals. They weren’t convincing to say the least.
The predators did have some new additions to their out fits and gear that were noteworthy. There were also a few additional creatures mixed into the film, that showed a little of their planets diversity. Overall, the story should have been developed more as opposed to trying to simply recreate the original.
