Gary’s Thoughts – Take Me Home Tonight is a movie that is funnier then it looks from the trailer which is a relief. There has been a lot of people who didn’t enjoy the movie but this movie is a pretty good sendoff to 80’s movies. It has a great soundtrack and the retro clothes fit perfect with the time period. Topher Grace (Matt) and Teresa Palmer’s (Tori) chemistry makes the movie feel genuine and real. It makes it easy for them two because they are actually off screen dating. The film is a very enjoyable movie that will keep you entertained throughout the whole movie. There is a also a message that is tied in with the plot that makes the movie that much more enjoyable.
The Game Plan – When Matt Franklin’s (Grace) high school crush comes to his job at Suncoast video he decides to create a small little white lie about his job. When she invites him to a party, hilarity ensues with a wild and crazy party that has a little bit of everything.
Touchdowns – The soundtrack is filled with great music from the 80’s that everyone will either remember or know. The chemistry between Topher and Teresa is what makes the film enjoyable. The comedy throughout the film is absurd at times and pushed the envelope but thats what makes it that much better.
Penalties – The movie’s plot is predictable and doesn’t really veer away from the the intended message. Some of the supporting actors/actresses don’t deliver to their potential which holds back certain characters.
The Game Winner – The Chemistry of the two main characters is what makes the movie as well as the blend of comedy that is thrown at you just makes the film enjoyable.
Game Summary – This is a good sendoff movie for the 80’s with a rememberable soundtrack, some memorable characters, and some over the top comedy that keeps you laughing throughout the film. If you are looking for something to make you laugh that doesn’t have an overbearing plot then you may enjoy this film with all the ups and downs the film has in store for you.
